Wonton Soup

Also known as: Wantan soup, wanton soup, or wuntun soup

Description: Wontons are dumplings that are made of a thin lye-water pastry wrapper and filled with a mixture of minced meat (usually pork) and seasonings. They are boiled and then added to a stock to make a soup.

Facts: Wontons can also be deep fried and served on their own. Wonton literally means "swallowing a cloud".

Hot and Sour Soup

Description: This is a soup containing ingredients to make it spicy and sour. There are many regional variations in China, but they all tend to contain bean curd and Chinese black mushrooms. It may or may not be vegetarian.

Egg Drop Soup

Also known as: Egg flower soup

Description: Egg drop soup consists of chicken broth topped with threads of egg (beaten egg that has been "dropped" into the soup). It may include green onion and peas.
