Description: Laser printers work in a manner similar to a photocopier. The process is called electrophotography. A roller is uniformly charged with static electricity, then a laser is used to remove the charge from portions of the roller in the pattern of the desired image. Fine powdered ink (toner) is applied to the roller. The toner only sticks to the parts of the roller without a static electrical charge (the parts that were hit by the laser). The toner is transferred from the roller to the paper through use of an electrostatic field. Then the ink is fused into the paper permanently using pressure and heat.

Laser printers produce very high quality output and are very fast.
